Hi, Luke & Gail here! We’ve been writing the Back Mountain Microgreens story for almost two years now…

Why?

Our mission is to honor and glorify God.

We aim to live as though there is no distinction between our individual walks with the Lord and our business—we’re His children—especially while we’re at work.

We’re not perfect, but we do our best!

Even though we’re growing microgreens... in most cases, baby veggies... we’re commanded to produce fruit… in our lives, and prayerfully... maybe even more importantly... in your life too!

The command to produce good fruit, and our desire to live out that command, is our WHY. Microgreens are just the lever we use to do it. 😉

We Thrive on Personal Connection

It’s no fun going it alone. Whether you’re aiming to get healthy by incorporating fresh produce into your diet, or running a kitchen and are in need of specialty ingredients and garnishes to dress up your presentations...

Don’t go it alone!

Getting it Right

In business (and in life), do overs aren’t always an option. Decisions stack up and consequences loom—sometimes for years—or even a lifetime.

Life has thrown us some curve balls, but Back Mountain Microgreens is our “do over.”

Health | Business | Life

The point is quality. Whether it’s quality food to eat. Quality relationships being built. Quality business decisions. Quality time spent. It’s all the same to us.

In this do-over, we are aiming to get it right—from the products we offer to the way we conduct business, to the opportunities we’re creating for our future.

Everything is coming full circle!

Working Together

Luke is a former owner and operator of two restaurants and loves to experiment with awesome, flavorful and saucy recipes in the kitchen. Gail is a former aircraft maintenance technician and loves to troubleshoot and optimize processes and data.

Life brought us together and there have been many ups and downs along our journey: the joy of living on a beautiful homestead with our four boys, lots of chickens and ducks, our dogs—but also many challenges.

For years we tried to come up with a business idea we could embark on together, but what caught the attention of one of us, the other one wasn’t exactly enthused about—and visa-versa.

We were stuck, for a looooooooong time! Then, all of a sudden, we both agreed on a single idea.

What We Do Here at Back Mountain Microgreens

We grow edible flowers and microgreens—microgreens are crops harvested between the first and second sets of leaves. We use the same seeds traditional farmers use to produce the fruits, veggies, and grains you're used to seeing in the grocery store, at farmers' markets, and blanketing the hills and valleys of our beautiful countryside.

Harvesting our microgreen crops—before maturity—yields great taste, unique aesthetics, and a reimagined version of produce that is gentler on digestion compared to mature plants.

Our products are fresh, lovely to look at, nutritious, non-GMO, and although we are not USDA Certified Organic, our soil, fertilizer, and in some cases even our seeds are!

Our edible flowers and microgreens lend themselves spectacularly to creating visually appealing, delicious, and healthy meals!

With a lever, you can move the world and our flowers and greens are a lever. We use them to produce good fruit by connecting with and supporting our neighbors and local community. You can use them to get healthy, woo your family with a new twist on some old favorite recipes, or gain new customers by adding a new aesthetic to your culinary repertoire!
