A New Chapter for Farm Fresh Hope
Growing more than just food
We’ve always wanted to grow more than just food. Farm Fresh Hope began with a vision—to use our farm as a platform for giving back—"the link between our microgreens and edible flower farm and our hope for food security." Not only is Farm Fresh Hope new, but our farm—overall—is new as well. We've been growing, and as we grow, we make changes. Just like our production and content schedules have changed over time to better suit us, so too is Farm Fresh Hope due for a change!
Why the change?
We knew we wanted collaborations as part of Farm Fresh Hope. We thought a product was the way to go, but what we didn't see coming was how much we have enjoyed focusing on people! We've said from the beginning that people are important to us, but what we realized after a few rounds of Mission Microgreen Mix collabs, was that the mixes themselves started taking a back seat to our wanting to get to know the chefs as people and hearing more about their stories. Luke enjoys talking to folks when they're here visiting the grow room, I love writing about our customers in our blogs and on their mix product pages, and over time it sort of felt like the mixes were just an afterthought.
What’s coming
A refocusing of our Farm Fresh Hope collabs. Thus far, our collaborations have been only with chefs and have highlighted custom Mission Microgreens Mixes. Moving forward, we're going to focus on the people who use our products on a regular basis—whether they use them at home or at work.
Every quarter, we'll invite a customer to join us in our grow room and share their personal story in a video. We'll take the time to hear all about them, learn the ins and outs of their favorite products, and talk about the charity they've selected for us to support. A portion of our sales in that quarter will also go to support their charity.
Why these changes matter
Every few months, Luke and I set aside time to talk about where we'd like to take Back Mountain Microgreens, then we look at what we've actually been doing and decide on if what we're doing is moving the business toward where we'd like it to be.
We realized after our most recent conversation on this topic that Farm Fresh Hope is off to a great start, but that it could be better; better aligned with our values, more enjoyable for us, and more of a benefit to the people we're collaborating with.
The invite
We’re excited to write this new Farm Fresh Hope chapter! If you'd like to come along on this journey—watch the stories, meet the people, and give back with every bite—subscribe to our YouTube channel now!
With this slight pivot, we're reinvigorated and very much looking forward to telling our customers' stories—because we feel it will be beneficial to all of us and not pigeonhole you into needing to purchase one specific product to support a meaningful cause. It feels right, and we're praying it brings the heart of our farm out into our community even more than it already is. We'd be honored to have you along for the ride! Join us!
