Growing Sustainably: A Small Shift for Our Farm

Growing Sustainably: A Small Shift for Our Farm

As Back Mountain Microgreens continues to grow, we’ve been spending time reflecting on what it means to build something sustainable—not just for our crops, but for our family and our future.

From the very beginning, this farm has been personal. Many of you have watched us grow from early harvests to weekly routines, new products, and an ever-expanding community. That growth has been a gift—but it’s also required us to pause occasionally and ask: How do we keep doing this well, long-term?

One of the ways we’re answering that question is by simplifying how we communicate.

We’re stepping away from frequent SMS marketing and choosing a slower, steadier rhythm—weekly emails and letting orders come in naturally. When you need microgreens, you place an order. When life is busy, that’s okay too. This approach supports healthier boundaries, clearer expectations, and a more sustainable way for us to operate as a family-run business.

A few things to know as part of this reset:

  • We harvest once per week, which sets our delivery schedule

  • Orders can be placed anytime, and are fulfilled according to that harvest rhythm

  • Our weekly email will be the best place to stay informed

This isn’t about pulling back—it’s about growing wisely. It’s about stewarding our time, energy, and resources in a way that allows this farm to continue serving our community with care and consistency.

To those who have supported us for years, and to those who are just discovering us now: thank you. Your orders, your encouragement, and your trust are what make this work possible. We’re grateful to be growing alongside you—and we’re excited about what’s ahead.
